Our Values
Having grown up with a deep appreciation for true craftsmanship, we build traditional face framed cabinets to the highest standards, past and present. We strive to make things of beauty and value that will grace your home for years to come. We offer personal, caring service throughout the process.
Our Shop
MMWW is a 9 person shop. We feel this is an optimum size: small enough to keep the quality of our work at its highest, large enough to reach any reasonable deadline. Our state of the art tooling ensures efficiency and precision second to none; our size guarantees traditional, handcrafted work that is simply unobtainable from the large, high volume shops. When you see and touch our cabinetry, the difference is obvious.
Woods
We use virtually any wood species available, though most of our work is in quarter-sawn oak, cherry, eastern maple, red oak, and white oak. We take great pains to grain match all of our components, from face frames and door frames to drawer fronts and door panels. For example, an entire run of drawer fronts would be cut from the same board, so you would see a continuous grain pattern across the face of the cabinet. Grain matching and wood selection is one irreplaceable feature of true custom woodwork. (Factory made cabinets cannot be made this way due to high volume machinery and assembly line manufacturing. So their mismatched grains are typically stained over in attempt to cover or hide this lack.) Our interiors range from high grade melamine to maple plywood. We dado all carcass sides and partitions.
Doors, Drawer Fronts, and Face Frames
We use only select grade solid hardwoods for our doors, drawer fronts, and face frames. We build traditional, cope and stick, panel doors of in a huge variety of styles. We grain match all of these as outlined above. We sand all woodwork to 220 grit before finishing.
Hardware
We use the highest quality hinges, drawer slides, and other components to insure a lifetime of trouble free use.
Drawers
We build solid maple, dovetailed, drawer boxes fitted with "Blumotion" runners. Or choose banded, maple plywood drawers with KV full extension slides.
Finish
CONVERSION VARNISH - We use the highest quality satin conversion varnish for painted and clear finishes. You can choose virtually any color or stain tint that can be mixed. We do lots of distressed and glazed finishes. We offer a proprietary "Old World" finish which involves hand planing and glazing.
Installation
Expert craftsmen will install your cabinets in a timely manner. Or, you may handle the installation yourself. We "scribe fit" our pieces rather than using ribbon molding. We install all knobs and pulls at this time. When we leave your job is complete. We're based in Kettle Falls serving happy clients in Coeur d'Alene, Sandpoint, Priest Lake, Spokane and the region. We'd be happy to tell you more or make a proposal on your next project. Contact us.
